Décolleté is a beautiful French word that refers to a low cut neck-line. It is also the word we use to refer to the upper chest area including the neck, chest and shoulders. The skin on the décolleté is often one of the first places women show signs of premature skin ageing; this is because the skin contains less oil, is thinner and has less elasticity than the skin on the rest of our face and body. It’s also an area that we often neglect and forget to treat. Here are a few hints and tips to keep your décolleté as firm, smooth and youthful looking as your face.
1. Cleanse. Think of your décolleté as an extension of your face so always
extend your cleansing regime down over the area.
2. Exfoliate. Just as you would
your face – gently exfoliate your décolleté to remove dead skin cells, soften,
smooth and hydrate the skin. As this area can be rather fragile I would
recommend using a gentle exfoliant containing enzymes or gentle fruit acids
rather that a ‘scrub’.
3. Protect. Much of the damage we
see on the décolleté area could have been avoided by wearing sunblock of
covering up. Always protect this area with sunblock.
4. An in-spa décolletage treatment such as our Décolleté Restorer using
Bioelement’s anti-ageing V-Neck Firming Mask will help to instantly firm,
tighten and smooth the neck and décolleté area.
5. Moisturise and treat with a skin
care product formulated specifically for this delicate and unique area such as
the firming, lifting, smoothing and brightening V-Neck Smoothing Crème from
Bioelements.
6. Sleep. Sleeping on your
stomach or side can worsen wrinkles on your décolleté. Try to get in the habit
of sleeping on your back instead. This
small change can also do wonders for reducing facial wrinkles.
